Upper East Side Residence
This elegant city home, located in a prewar building designed by renowned architect Rosario Candela, has undergone a thoughtful transformation that honors its historical charm while incorporating modern touches.
The renovation focused on preserving the building's original architectural details wherever possible. To enhance the home's timeless character, the ornate crown moldings and brass hardware were preserved and carefully replicated, and the fireplaces and herringbone-patterned hardwood floors were refinished in modernized tones, breathing new life into these classic elements.
Spanning 3,500 sqft, the design seamlessly blends old and new in a sophisticated way. A geometric-patterned rug from Alt for Living subtly complements a vintage 1930s dry bar, while a striking red Ochre chaise evokes the elegance of a past era, paired with a contemporary brass table from Egg Collective that will develop a beautiful patina over time. The interplay of period-inspired patterns, materials, and colors creates a series of distinct, inviting rooms—from the moody dining room to the playful family room and sun-drenched bedroom.
